Angry Youth storm government offices, demand the exit of senior official

The state agency has in the past been riddled with claims of irregularities in its dealings and financial transactions.

Angry Youth have stormed the Youth Enterprise Development Fund offices in protest over the funds Chairman Ronald Osumba demanding his exit.

"Today a group of youth under the United Generation banner demonstrated offices to express their frustration with graft in youth serving organizations," a statement from the Youth Fund read.

The Fund stated that the the chair and CEO Josiah Moriasi briefed the youth on the steps taken by the agency including sending seven officers on suspension, inviting the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to conduct thorough investigations and inviting the National Treasury to conduct a full audit on group loans.

Last week, Mr Osumba had called a press conference where he revealed investigations into seven members of staff suspended over alleged irregular loan disbursement were nearly complete.

He further disclosed that the National Treasury was conducting a full audit of the books at the organization to determine if there are other irregularities.

The Fund has in the past been riddled with claims of irregularities in its dealings and financial transactions and some of its former leaders accused of abuse of office.
