Malindi OCPD Matawa Muchangi on Monday morning passed on, shortly after falling ill on Sunday night.
The police boss had been rushed to a private hospital in Mombasa where he died after a few hours.
Malindi Divisional Criminal Investigation Officer (DCIO) Anthony Sunguti confirmed the incident, adding that it was not clear what had led to Muchangi’s death.
A postmortem is expected to be conducted to establish the cause of the police boss’s death.
