Nairobi MCA arrested for drug trafficking

A Nairobi Member of County Assembly (MCA) has been arrested in relation to drug trafficking.

Ngei Ward MCA Redson Otieno Onyango was arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday evening for alleged drug trafficking.

According to the DCI, Onyango was arrested in connection to a package containing Heroin that was impounded at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on April 19.

DCI in their statement further said that the Nairobi County legislator will be arraigned in Court and charged with Trafficking Narcotics.

“Hon. Redson Otieno Onyanga, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Ngei Ward was today evening arrested by @DCI_Kenya Detectives following the confiscation of a consignment containing #Heroin at JKIA on 19th April ‘19. He’ll be charged with the offence of Trafficking in Narcotics,” tweeted DCI.

Onyango’s arrest comes a day after the arrest of Lamu West Member of Parliament Stanley Muiruri Muthama who was arrested on Thursday night by DCI detectives.

According to DCI, the lawmaker was arrested for allegedly engaging in fraud.

Muthama was picked up by detectives at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
