Ng'andu Ward public primary school to be ready before Term 1 2020 - DP William Ruto announces

Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday announced that a public primary school will be constructed in Ng'andu Ward, Dagoretti South constituency following the Precious Talents School tragedy.

DP Ruto announced that the Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Education & the National Youth Service (NYS) will complete the project in the next three months.

"State departments of Public works,Education & Youth (NYS) will work with Board of Lenana School to put up a public primary school to be ready by next term to cater for the children of Ng'ando area where the school tragedy occurred. The process kicked off this [Tuesday] morning in earnest," his brief statement outlined.

Public primary school in Ng'andu to cost Sh20 million

While visiting the site on Monday, Dr Ruto had announced that area MP John Kiarie through CDF would donate Sh10 million to the project while the Ministry of Education would donate another Sh10 million to fund the project at a total of Sh20 million.

The school will be manged by Lenana Secondary School's administration to serve the Ng'andu community.

Residents had complained that they are forced to rely on private primary schools given that there is no public school within the ward.

Education CS George Magoha, however, stated that there is a public school at a distance of about two kilometres.
