One person died on Thursday while seven others were injured after a head on collision of a bus and and a tanker near Salgaa area on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

Police revealed that the deceased was the driver of the bus.

The injured were taken to the Nakuru Level Five Hospital where reports indicated they were responding well to treatment.

Nakuru OCPD Samuel Obara stated that the Msamaria Mwema bus which was heading to Nairobi from Eldoret, was speeding before it collided with the petrol tanker which was heading in the opposite direction.

Notorious Salgaa blackspot

In September this year, four people died on the spot and eight others were seriously injured after an 11-seater matatu rammed into a lorry at Sobea area near Salgaa.

The accident which occurred in the morning, claimed the lives of two men and two women who were passengers in the PSV vehicle that belonged to 2NK Sacoo.

Police at the scene of the accident at that time indicated that the driver to the matatu vanished immediately the incident happened.

Reports highlighted that the matatu lost control and rammed into the trailer that was parked on the side of the road.
