Photo of vehicles falling off a road go viral, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua blames motorists

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has placed the blame on motorists after Kenyans online demanded answers over a deteriorated road in his county.

In various posts on social media, Kenyans demanded to know why the Governor had not built the road where vehicles were seen having slid off the road and lying on their sides.

One Dan Nzioka remarked: "Wake up this idiot [sic] who is doing this road in Katani...Machakos county. @DrAlfredMutua...this is pure nonsense and you at forever on social media and TVs bashing Ruto..."

Contractor knows what to do - Governor Mutua

In a brief statement issued through his verified Twitter handle, the governor explained that the rod had been earmarked for construction.

He also noted that motorists were to blame for the accidents involving the cars that slid off the road.

"RESPONSE to social media photos of vehicles in a ditch of a road under construction. This is NOT Katani but Zebra-Kincar road. THE TRUTH: Diversions have been in place but motorists removed barriers & used closed road sections. Contractor is aware of what needs to be done," the Governor tweeted.

One of the Governor's followers, Faith Audi however responded: "That diversion is also horrible, it's narrow and very muddy i mean mad ile ya kukwama...your pris [sic] another level but no we don't need it."
