The suspect identified as Alex Opondo was apprehended shortly after arriving from Uganda with his consignment.

Police who were on high alert after being tipped pounced on the suspect at Nairobi’s Roysambu area.

The 2.5 Kg of cocaine was disguised as sugar and wrapped in a packet of soya beans when he was nabbed.

Upon questioning, he revealed that the narcotics were for domestic consumption.

The suspect who is in police custody will be arraigned in court tomorrow.

This is the latest arrest in the wake of a crackdown on drug trafficking that has seen the homes of several suspects raided.

Also named in the confession is controversial politician Stanley Livondo.

The biggest seizure was made in 2016 when authorities arrested two suspects linked to a consignment of 100 kilogrammes of cocaine valued at Sh598 million disguised as sugar.
