A dead body on Wednesday floated to the surface at the Likoni Channel crossing in Mombasa County.
The body was carried to the shore by waves where it was later retrieved by the police for purposes of identification.
On November 24, a middle-aged man had jumped off MV Harambee at 1:30 am on Sunday in what is believed to have been suicide.

Witnesses at the time suggested that the man may have been disturbed and mentally unsound at the time of the incident.
Statement from KFS after man jumped off MV Harambee
"At around 0130hrs an unidentified male passenger went overboard MV Harambee from mainland to the island side . Our rescue efforts bore no fruit. The search of the body is still on.
"The man was dressed in a white top and a black trouser,he left his seat dashed to the aft prow and dived into the water. We earnestly send our sympathies to the affected family.
"The identity of a male victim who went overboard earlier today has not been established. Random search for the body continues," a statement from Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) read.
Police are yet to confirm whether the body found on Wednesday is that of the man who jumped.

Another widely circulated video clip showed a man who had allegedly slipped off the ferry and into the Indian Ocean as he struggled to get back on the ferry.
The man was rescued by a patrol boat.
