Duale finally breaks silence on Orengo's plan to impeach DP Ruto

Listen up, Senator Orengo

National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale

National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale on Wednesday issued a response to Senator James Orengo over the Senator's plan to impeach Deputy President William Ruto.

In a series of tweets, the Garissa Town MP fired at Senator Orengo pointing out six reasons why the impeachment motion was unlikely to be successful.

"Senator James Orengo, being a Senior Counsel is either in some legal slumber or is knowingly misleading the public.

"He has failed to understand six important aspects of any impeachment process of the Deputy President William Ruto or the President," he tweeted.

The Garissa Town MP went to explain that the process can only be started at the National Assembly, not the Senate, and only by a sitting member of the House.

Senate is only involved at the Third Stage

The vocal ML further cautioned Senator Orengo that the process is likely to fail at the initial stages where he will need 117 signatures for the motion to get in motion and the support of 233 MPs for it to pass through its second stage.

"Supposing that it passes that stage and the trial committee of eleven is formed. This is the Third Stage, where the Senate now becomes involved.

"The motion will require support of another Two-thirds of all Senators. In a House where Jubilee party enjoys super majority, that is definitely insurmountable," Duale noted.

Duale concluded by accusing the Senator of orchestrating a "cheap witch-hunt" to derail the progress of the Big 4 Agenda.

"Our Constitution protects all Kenyans from cheap witch-hunt. My friend Senator Orengo knows this too well, but he has chosen, once more, to market cheap and worthless fishing expeditions. He will not distract us from uniting our nation and the BIG 4 agenda!" Duale asserted.
