Kangara, popularly known by his stage name Masaku, died at Mbagathi Hospital where he had been undergoing treatment.
Masaku was in the team of pioneer local actors and comedian who entertained Kenyans through Vitimbi and Vioja Mahakamani that dominated the local comedy in the 1990s.
Family sources indicated that the veteran actor had been undergoing treatment for kidney failure, diabetes, and anaemia.
His son, David Kangara told the Standard that his father was first admitted in June at Mama Lucy Hospital.
He was later taken to Mbagathi Hospital due to unavailability of equipment at Mama Lucy.
Since the cancellation of Vitimbi and Vioja Mahakamani, the deceased actor appeared in several local programmes most recently on vernacular station Inooro TV.
