After months of sustained political attacks targeting former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Deputy Pesident William Ruto has today announced a new strategy to deal with Odinga whose entry into government through the handshake created a lot of discomfort for DP Ruto and his allies.

Speaking at Mumbuni, Machakos County today after attending an event at the Africa Inland Church (AIC) Katisaa, DP Ruto announced that he is open to working together with Raila Odinga who, for years has given him a tough time politically.

He further announced that he will heed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s call for all leaders to work together in unity and harmony.

“The president declared that we should work together with all leaders. Even those we challenged and defeated in 2017. Today we are united in ensuring we do not drag Kenya’s development. Transformation cannot wait for those who are politically quarrelling.

“We must harmonise our politics so that we can create synergy and drive the transformation of Kenyans together as the people of this nation,” Ruto asserted.

The DP made it clear that he is solidly behind President Uhuru Kenyatta with his present focus being development and unity.

“Developments will spearhead the change Kenya needs and that depends on leaders uniting with citizens to work together,” Ruto added.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that the DP is making such declarations.

Only to renege with frequent attacks, most famously labelling Odinga the “King of poverty” and alleging that he is out to destroy Jubilee party.
