Amidst concerns that central Kenya region may not support his 2022 bid, Deputy President William Ruto has delved into the debate to clarify the true state of things.
Addressing worshippers at All Saints Cathedral the DP made it clear that no community or no Kenyan owes him anything.
“I want to remind leaders what Paul says in Romans 13:8; owe no man nothing except the debt of love for one another,”Ruto said.
“That is the debt that all of us have, to love one another; no person, no community, no section of Kenya, owes anybody – including myself – anything.” He added.
In political circles, a debate has been raging with some of DP Ruto’s allies challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta to declare his stand on Ruto’s 2022 candidature.
A section of leaders from Central Kenya have grown cold feet and warned the DP that support in 2022 is not guaranteed, sparking speculations that the region may fail to honour a pre-election pact that saw Ruto help the president emerge the winner in the 2017 elections.
