Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua faulted Wiper chief Kalonzo Musyoka for failing to discuss critical development issues during the Monday meeting.
Dr Mutua instead attacked the former Vice President accusing him of shelving development issues of over four million people from Ukambani region, and concentrated on his 2022 presidential bid.
“There was no discussion on development or the economic welfare of 4 million Kambas in this country. It was all about a certain party and a certain individual,” Dr Mutua said of the meeting held by Wiper on Monday.
However according to Dr. Mutua, it was not a unity meeting as it did not include key Kamba leaders.

“Such a meeting should be called by neutral people such as religious leaders; elders; youth and women leaders, so that we come together under neutrality to discuss the plight of our people,” he said.
Supremacy battle
Dr. Mutua, who is also the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader, said the meeting was a party affair and could not achieve the alleged unity of purpose for Ukambani.
The scolding of the Kalonzo party by Dr Mutua opens yet a new supremacy battle between the two Ukambani leaders, who have since expressed interest in the 2022 race for State House.
On Monday, Mr. Musyoka held a meeting at Kiamba Primary School in Komarock of Dr Mutua’s home Machakos County, to rally Kamba leaders behind him ahead of the 2022 elections.
The event, dubbed “2018 Kamba Unity Declaration Accord” was attended by Governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni), Senator Mutula Kilonzo, ex-Senator Johston Muthama among others. Former Machakos gubernatorial candidate Wavinya Ndeti was also present.
