Why Governor Mutua and his wife are seeking your help

Mutua is seeking funds to furnish a newly built house.

Taking on Twitter on Thursday, the governors urged his 600,000 followers to contribute towards furnishing a house he built for resident identified as Muchoki.

“Last month, Lillian & I promised to build a house for Mzee Muchoki. The house is done.

“We invite you all to participate by furnishing the house (beds, sofas etc) so that we can hand it over on Friday, May 11,” Dr Mutua tweeted.

A section of netizens went wild on the governor; some wondering why he would build a house of that nature and fail to furnish it up.

“Come on Mr Mutua after building such a small house you mean you need assistance to buy the little furniture?! Stop making business out of this poor soul,” a May Fair tweeted to the governor in response.

'Presidential stunt'

A fortnight ago, the governor hit headlines when he was pictured in Kakamega inspecting a guard of honour, like a president would do.

However, savage netizens could not have any of his ‘presidential stunts’ as he inspected a guard of honour at Kakamega’s Bukhungu Stadium.

Dr Mutua shared a picture of himself standing on an incomplete dais. What looks like a podium staircase, the small wood structure was partially covered in green carpet with the front part left open showing wood.

The picture attracted ridicule among the governor’s followers as they deemed his move to ‘emulate the presidency’ to have backfired.

The Machakos governor is in Kakamega on a two-day benchmarking tour. He is hosted by Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
