On Thursday, NASA Assumption of Office Committee insisted that the swearing-in ceremony was still on course.

Speaking during a press conference at Okoa Office, David Ndii, who is NASA’s strategist, noted that the only way President Uhuru Kenyatta could stop the event was by admitting the illegitimacy of his Presidency.

“If Uhuru admits the October election was a sham, we might consider having a conversation to see whether it is worth suspending the swearing-in. But that admission has to be significant and agree to repudiate the election and illegitimate presidency,” Ndii said.

The Economist highlighted that swearing-in will take place at Uhuru Park. This is despite a notice by Nairobi County informing the public that the Park has been closed for renovations.

"NASA wishes to reassure our supporters and all interested parties that the swearing-in is on as scheduled at Uhuru Park on 30 January contrary to disinformation b sections of the media,” Ndii said.
