"For the first time I was able to understand the saying we don’t see with our eyes.

"This was a very brilliant concept because for sure I was able to walk a mile in the shoes of the visually challenged," the governor commented after the 'blind' lunch.

A representative from the British High Commission who attended the event tweeted: "Just had a three course meal...in darkness. Humbling experience with amazing , practical lessons."

Former journalist Julie Gichuru, who hosted the event alongside disability activist Reginald Oduor, explained that their aim was to raise awareness on the challenges of disability.

She encouraged others to try out the experiment for themselves for an "eye-opening experience".
