The audience burst out laughing when Joho imitated Sonko stating "Governor 0047, thank you for welcoming us in your cirry (Sic)."

Still joking about Sonko's accent, Joho applauded him adding: "The whole world now knows that if Sonko decides to switch his accent, he can pronounce 'headquarter' as headquarra)."

Joho indicated that it was now upon the leaders to follow up and keep up with the momentum to ensure that citizens benefit from the just concluded conference.

On Tuesday, governor Sonko set the Internet abuzz after he read his speech with his newly acquired accent.

Sonko gave his presentation where he spoke about the city’s GDP and its contribution to the growth and development of the nation.

American twang

However, it was not his well-written speech which is causing a buzz on social media, rather the governor’s new accent when delivering the speech.

He chose to adopt an American twang while delivering his speech where some words were pronounced in the American accent, the letter t usually comes off being pronounced as an r.

Mr Sonko pronounced words like the city as “cirry” and President Uhuru’s Kenyatta’s name as “Kenyarra”.

Over 10,000 international delegates attended the conference which kicked off Monday at KICC.
