Sakaja discloses 3 things that Jubilee leadership and the Senate will do after Igathe’s resignation

Jubilee party and the Senate take action on Igathe's resignation

Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja disclosed that together with his colleagues, they intend to intervene and reconcile Sonko with Igathe after the bitter fallout.

The senator also made it known that together with his colleagues in the Senate, they were already reviewing loopholes in the constitution to ensure that Nairobi and Nyeri counties both have a deputy governor should their efforts to reconcile the two fail.

Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga took over the mantle following the death of his predecessor Wahome Gakuru in a road accident, leaving the county without a deputy governor.

Sonko is also set to appear before the Senate Committee on Devolution to shed more light on his frosty relationship with Igathe.

Addressing the media, Laikipia senator John Nderitu disclosed that the governor would be summoned to appear before the senate in a letter that would be delivered to the governor on Wednesday.

“We are going to write to the governor of Nairobi inviting him so that he can at least shed more light on what transpired in the county”, said Nderitu.

The Laikipia senator also made an assurance that there would be no crisis, adding that the county would operate without a deputy governor as is the case in Nyeri unless the constitution is changed.
