This comes barely days after ODM’s Raila Odinga hosted Sonko at his Capitol Hill office before they met retired President Mwai Kibaki in a series of high profile meetings by the opposition chief.
In a video widely circulated Tuesday afternoon, Kalonzo was received at City Hall by Sonko for talks based on issues of national importance.
“Our meeting is focused on matters of national importance. We urge Kenyans to shift focus from elective politics and aim at uniting the country and working together for the sake of the country’s development,” Sonko said in a post.

Kalonzo explained that his visit to Sonko’s office was a move to unite the people of Kenya through a recently launched One Kenya Movement.

“Recently you heard me talk about One Kenya Movement, That’s why I am here. We don’t want ethnic politics,” he said.
Kalonzo further instructed Sonko to form a committee to speed up cleaning on Nairobi River, which he termed as a critical river in Nairobi’s environment, which further extends to Ukambani.

“We can partner so that we bring back what Nairobi River used to be during Michuki’s rein. I was the Environment Minister and I can tell you that we tried to clean the river. This river is critical even in Ukambani because it joins Athi River,” Kalonzo said.
The Sonko-Kalonzo meeting comes barely a month after the former Vice President, in , vowed to rally all Ukambani leaders to support his bid for presidency in 2022.
He was however shocked last week when nearly 20 clergymen in the region ganged up against the plan terming it ill-timed.
