Meet Kenneth Matiba’s little known daughters

Matiba's successful daughters

But apart from his impressive stint in politics, politics was many things; an entrepreneur, a sportsman, a mountaineer, and most importantly – family man.

The deceased politician was father of five children – three girls and two boys.

His daughters are trailblazers in the true meaning of the word – having received the best education at a time when many Kenyan women were given very limited opportunities.

Susan Matiba

The first born in Matiba’s family started her career in the music industry.

She is a former member of Musikly Speaking, Kenya’s first all-girl band, the group comprised of herself Suzzane Gachukiah, and Joy Mboya.

She is married to Issac Mwamto – an uncle to media personality Grace Msalame.

Ivy Matiba-Chege

Ivy run the Matiba family’s media company – The People Daily.

She has also served as a Director of the Kenya Film Commission.

Julie Matiba-Wahome

A graduate of the Ivy League Cornell University, Julie is a hospitality expert.

She currently runs the family’s investment arm – Kenedco which has interests in Real Estate, Media, Hospitality and Agriculture.

Like her sportsman father, Julie also runs Extreme Outdoors Africa and Africa Extreme – a company that promotes extreme outdoor sporting activities such as bike-riding.
