Ahead of tonight’s interview on K24 TV, Kenyans have taken to the social media, cornering Deputy President William Ruto with several questions that they want him to respond to in tonight’s interview with Anne Kiguta.
11 tough questions that Kenyans want DP Ruto to answer in tonight's interview
Will he provide satisfactory answers
Many want the DP to come clean on what he will do for Kenyans in 2022 and beyond should he successfully run for the presidency that he cannot achieve today yet he is part of the presidency.
Judging by the reaction online, many want DP Ruto to disclose where he gets millions of shillings to donate to churches across Kenya on a regular basis. They also want him, as a public figure, to reveal his net worth.
This is a question that has been asked severally in the past and it appears Kenyans are not convinced with the answers given in previous interviews.
Going by his hefty donations running into tens of millions which he alleges are proceeds from his businesses, his business empire seems to be doing so well and raking in billions and Kenyans will be keen to get a confirmation from the DP that his businesses have been paying taxes to Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) as required.
Progress on Arror and Kimwarer dams and the pre-election promises
Keen on development, Kenyans also want DP Ruto as a leader who “keenly monitors the progress of government projects”, to give an update on how far the constructions of controversial Arror and Kimwarer dams are.
Related to the same, some also want him to answer why the Jubilee administration hasn’t built even one of the five state-of-the-art stadia they promised Kenyans in the run-up to March 4, 2013 general election.
On election promises, Kenyans also want the DP to come clean on what happened to the jobs that the youths were promised and what the Jubilee Government is doing to ensure unemployment rate in Kenya, especially among the youth, is significantly reduced.
Weston hotel and corruption
With corruption reaching unprecedented levels and a section of his allies openly opposed to various initiatives to curb the vice, netizens expressed a desire to know what the DP thinks about the state of corruption in Kenya, and what he, as President Kenyatta’s principal assistant, has done to curb graft.
The ghosts of the recent demolitions in Nairobi also returned with several seeking a clarification from the DP on what he would do about his Weston Hotel, given authorities confirmed that the establishment sits on grabbed public land.
Defying the president and the divided Jubilee party
Being the front-runner in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, some expressed a desire to know why the DP comes across as a person defying President Uhuru Kenyatta’s order against early political campaigns.
Indeed, politics have often feature in DP Ruto’s speeches with frequent attacks targeting opposition chief Raila Odinga. Has also seen DP Ruto and his camp pick up fights with those perceived to be against his 2022 candidature such as Raphael Tuju, David Murathe, PS Karanja Kibicho among others.
Many also want the DP to shed more light on The La-Mada assassination plot that saw four CSs from the mount Kenya region named in an alleged plot to assassinate him.
A letter related to the same plot was traced back to the DP’s office with police arresting Dennis Itumbi and arraigning him in court over the same.
Tonight's high-octane interview will be hosted by Journalist Anne Kiguta who is making a comeback on K24 said that the break was necessary for her to take a minute and regroup.
