Citizen TV goes off air while covering Raila's swearing in

Just in

It is not clear if the blackout was a result of a technical fault or deliberately cut out.

A source at the Royal Media Station (RMS) told Pulselive.co.ke that some government representatives had called, warning the station against live coverage of the controversial event at Uhuru Park.

Shortly after warning, the Citizen TV signal was cut off on DSTV, Zuku, and on the digital transmission platforms.

NTV and KTN News was also shut down on the free-to-air platforms.

The station was only left with their Youtube channel where they resorted to airing local comedy show Naswa.

The development came amid a controversial press release by NTV Managing Editor who claimed that media houses were threatened with being shut down if they went ahead to cover Odinga's event.
