Obado’s history with Michael Oyamo goes back to over 20 years, new details emerge

Those who have known the two indicated that they met when the Governor was teaching at St Joseph’s Rapogi High School in the mid-1990s. Oyamo was one of his favourite students.
According to Oyamo’s former classmates, Obado taught them Physics in form one and Accounting in Form three.
“Oyamo was one of Obado’s best students as he was very good in physics,” one of the Governor’s former students recalled in an interview with the Standard.

The Governor’s personal assistant, who has been arrested over the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno, later joined the military while his former teacher quit the teaching profession to become a businessman before joining politics in 2012.
They were separated at some point but were reconnected by politics where Oyamo joined Obado’s campaign team, mainly providing security services due to his training in the military.
Governor Obado has distanced himself from his aide, saying he had nothing to do with whatever Oyamo may have done to Ms Otieno.
