Miguna Deported Again

Miguna was put on an Emirates EK 722 Dubai-bound flight

Self-declared National Resistance Movement general Miguna Miguna has been deported for the second time in two months.

According to his lawyers, Miguna was put on an Emirates EK 722 Dubai-bound flight at around 11pm.

He was reportedly escorted by two Kenyan security officers

This comes barely hours after High Court judge George Odunga ordered for his unconditional release and instructed that he appears before the court on Thursday at 10am.

Convictions

Odunga also convicted and ordered Interior CS Fred Matiangi, Immigration boss Gordon Kihalangwa and IG Joseph Boinnet to appear before him on Thursday 10am for sentencing.

Justice Odunga said the three officials were in contempt of court for disobeying court orders after failing to present the self-declared National Resistance Movement general Miguna Miguna in court.

According to Miguna's lawyers, Miguna was seized and unlawfully removed him from the jurisdiction in further defiance of the court orders.

"So they have assaulted Lawyers, defied the Court & deported Dr Miguna... on EK 722! I feel helpless & angry as an Advocate! Useless as an MP & Angry as a Kenyan!!!" the NRM General's lawyer Otiende Amollo tweeted.

Lawyers ordeal

Minutes before Miguna was deported, a contingent of police officers roughed up Miguna's lawyers James Orengo, Julie Soweto, Nelson Havi and Cliff Ombeta at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

They were kicked out after they tried to serve the Immigration Department with court orders.

According to Havi, as they read out the order to the policemen, the officers called for reinforcement and attempted to run them over with a truck and assaulted them forcing them to flee for safety.
