MP bursts into tears during press conference

Overcome by emotions

The National Assembly in session

The MP was overcome with emotion as she decried the return of illegal gangs in the region that were responsible for the deaths of minors.

Ms Wahome was sharing the findings of a postmortem conducted on the body of 15-year-old Juliano Kanyonyo who was found murdered in mysterious circumstances.

Juliano had just sat for his KCPE exam and had scored 377 marks out of 500 possible points.

She revealed that the pathologists had established that the boy was killed by a heavy blow to the head using a blunt object.

Killed over Chicken

The MP narrated that the boy was murdered by an illegal gang after his mother refused to give the gang members a chicken.

The boy's mother allegedly presented a cock that was rejected by the gang.

Juliano had recently undergone the cut as a rite of passage and was under the care of a mentor, "mutiiri" in Kikuyu.

It is the mentor who allegedly turned away the mother after she failed to find a hen with a talon at the back of its foot.

The Kandara legislator alerted the public of the resurgence of illegal gangs such as Mungiki, 42 brothers, Usiku Sacco and Gaza in the region.

Church leaders condemned the murder as the family announced that they would be pursuing justice for the slain boy.
