Security officers block Kipchumba Murkomen after clashing with government over Mau forest eviction

Murkomen urged residents to defy government directive and went against Jubilee party directive

An entourage of Jubilee MPs lead by Kipchumba Murkomen was blocked by security officers when they toured Mau Forest to donate iron sheets to families evicted from the forest.

The team was on its way to meet internally displaced persons who were evicted from the forest when security officers who were on high alert intervened, bringing their mission to an end.

They however managed to address a section of those affected on the Kericho side of the forest in Sierra Leone where they maintained that they will continue fighting for the plight of the evictees even if it is a threat to Murkomen’s post in the Senate.

Murkomen who fell out with the government over the ongoing evictions only managed to address bashed President Uhuru Kenyatta for believing brokers instead of visiting the Mau and declaring his stand on the on-going evictions.

"I have returned to Mau again and because you don't believe what I'm telling you and because brokers are telling you that I'm abusing you, come here in Mau in person." Murkomen said.

Murkomen who attracted the wrath of Jubilee legislators after he alleged that the decision to evict people from Mau forest was part of the handshake deal, claiming that conmen who had entered the government through the window had colluded with others to evict people from the forest.

A tough-talking Murkomen who was accompanied by a host of Jubilee leaders including Emurua Dikirr MP Joanna Ng’eno and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot tore into the government, linking Raila Odinga to the Mau forest evictions

The Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator urged the residents to stay put in the area, maintaining that he will not sit watch and watch innocent Kenyans suffering in the hands of a government that is keen on nurturing the handshake than caring for citizens.
