Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has lost his seat as Chairperson of the Labour and Welfare Committee in the National Assembly.

Bungoma Woman Representative Catherine Wambilianga (Ford Kenya) was also voted out as the Labour Committee Vice Chairperson in one of the most dramatic committee sessions of the 12th parliament.

Opposition MPs in the committee abstained from voting insisting that the exercise should be done in secret ballot.

The MPs had also protested the presence of National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale during the session, some claiming he was there to intimidate the Jubilee MPs.

Embakasi North MP James Gakuya on Tuesday voluntarily stepped down from his Vice Chairmanship of the Library Committee, a few hours before a motion of no confidence was presented against him.
