Details of NASA’s secret power sharing deal

NASA comes up with radical proposal to share power

Details have emerged of a secret plan by the opposition coalition National Super Alliance (NASA) to enter into a power sharing deal should their quest for fresh polls in August fail to bear results.

According to The Standard, the opposition coalition’s strategy includes the creation of the position of Prime Minister as an alternative should the coalition fail to force the Jubilee government out of office.

The coalition will also push for rotational presidency so as to lock out the Mount Kenya and Rift Valley regions from the seat.

This is expected to give other communities a chance to produce the next president, having failed to do so since independence.

The People's Assembly Organising Committee came up with the road map that will be presented at People’s Assembly conventions for debate and adoption in what could shake up the current administration.

NASA is set to hold the inaugural People’s Assembly convention in Nairobi later on where opposition boss Raila Odinga is expected to outline his agenda following his ‘swearing in’.

It is not clear if the NASA boss will name his ‘cabinet’ during the convention.

NASA’s David Ndii confirmed that “The convention will inaugurate the national leadership that will support the People’s President in this most solemn of national duties. We may not necessarily want to call it a Cabinet, but they will be individuals that will guide the running of the assembly”.

Following his controversial ‘swearing in’, Odinga has come under intense pressure with the international community urging him to recognize the legitimacy of president Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
