Miguna’s surprise reaction after nomination as Deputy Governor
Miguna's unbelievable reaction
In a text message to Citizen TV, Mr Miguna dismissed the nomination as a mere distraction.
"Good afternoon I have no idea what nearly everyone seems to be talking about. It’s a malicious distraction. That’s all I’m saying," Miguna said.
In a tweet, the Canadian-based lawyer said that he has never met or spoken to Governor Sonko since the gubernatorial debate held in July 2017.
Miguna's response seems to negate what his lawyer Cliff Ombeta told the public.
In a phone interview o Citizen TV Mr. Ombeta said that Miguna was considering the position.
“I have the letter. I am on my way to hand over the letter to the speaker. Miguna is considering that position,” Ombeta said.
Miguna was deported from the country under controversial circumstances. He was scheduled to jet into the country yesterday but he cancelled his flight after what he termed as lack of cooperation by the Immigration office.
"In view of the refusal by the Department of Immigration to issue me with a valid Kenyan passport and facilitate my unconditional re-entry into Kenya as ordered by the High Court and formally requested by the Kenya National Commission for Human Rights on my behalf, and on advice from legal counsel, I have instructed my advocates to immediately bring to the attention of the court the continued willful contempt of its orders.
"I was determined to arrive home on schedule, however, just before my departure, I reluctantly cancelled my flight to Nairobi and postponed my next arrival date. We will provide you with my new arrival date as soon as the court gives further directions on this matter," he said in a statement.
