Uhuru to personally oversee jailing of suspects in NYS Sh9 billion theft
President is angry
Media reports indicate that President Kenyatta had over last month ordered the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to carry out thorough investigations and make a report within six weeks.
The investigators on Friday last week asked for more time to complete their investigations.
About 40 companies are said to have been used by high-ranking public officials to carry out the NYS fraud.
“Kenyans should anticipate arrests of all those who are culpable. People will be arrested and taken to court irrespective of the ranks they hold or their social status. If you misused public funds and diverted the money for personal use, you be held accountable,” Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti stated on the matter.
The Sh9 billion scandal is the second case of high-level corruption to face the NYS since 2013 when President Kenyatta took office.
