Senate Minority Leader James Orengo on Friday caused a light moment at the burial of former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s father Mzee Peter Mairu after revealing details of a friendly banter with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Orengo told mourners that after when President Kenyatta arrived at the ceremony, they exchanged talk where the President lightly joked that the senator was a joker.

The senator was speaking on the need for politicians to stop taking political talk in its literal sense.

National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, who spoke before Orengo, had asked ODM leaders to stop referring to some Kenyans as crocodiles in reference to the new unity deal between Kenyatta and ODM Leader Raila Odinga.

“My brother Duale, don’t be oversensitive. In politics if you are oversensitive, you are in the wrong business and if you have no story to tell, my brother just keep quiet. Crocodiles are not people,” the Siaya Senator said amid uproar from the mourners.

Political leaders from across the political divide attended Mzee Peter Mairu’s burial in Tseikuru, including President Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, Odinga, Baringo Senator Gideon, Moi, among others.
