NASA makes U-turn on Raila's swearing in ceremony

Technical committee makes fresh announcement

The coalition on Wednesday changed the venue for Odinga's swearing in ceremony - just a few days after a similar change was announced.

NASA now says it will hold the controversial ceremony at Uhuru Park which has been closed down for renovations.

On Monday, a NASA MP who is involved in the inauguration preparations stated that they had ruled out Uhuru Park due to concerns that the government would pre-book it to frustrate them.

“When we chose Uhuru Park, we knew the Jubilee leadership would thwart our mission by ensuring the venue is cordoned off by police."We have chosen a different location that will be known during or after the event,” the legislator was quoted by the Nation.

The technical committee has now insisted that they would hold their swearing in at Uhuru Park, and invited all Kenyans to attend the event.

The Opposition has not booked the venue with the County government with City Hall claiming that said that a church and the Nairobi Business Community have applied to use the grounds on January 30th.
