Uhuru advised to leave State House ahead of Raila’s swearing in

Security agencies hold meeting on handling NASA swearing in event

Addressing mourners in Nthongoni, Kitui governor Charity Ngilu said that Uhuru Kenayatta lost to National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Odinga fair and square and the president is"illegitimately in office."

"We are firm that whoever lost the election should go home and whoever won should occupy statehouse and run the country. On December 12 the winner will no doubt be sworn into office," Ngilu said.

Ngilu also took a swipe at those calling for peace stating that "we do not want be told about peace. What kind of peace? Peace without food, peace in poverty, peace without children education, peace when the high and mighty are eating while the lowly suffer is a big No."

Yesterday, the President ruled out any dialogue, directing the opposition to wait for 2022 to engage with his deputy William Ruto.

Meanwhile, a political showdown is looming with NASA leader Raila Odinga set to be sworn in on Jamhuri day at a venue that is yet to be disclosed.

With the president’s directive, attempts by religious leaders and Western envoys to broker dialogue appear to have hit a dead end, setting the stage for a controversial swearing in.

Security agencies have reportedly held meetings on handling the event after they were criticized by the civil society and the opposition over excessive use of force.
