Interior CS Fred Matiang’i on Wednesday morning surprised government employees working at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after he made an impromptu visit at 6 am.
The Interior CS arrived at JKIA accompanied by two other Cabinet Secretaries, Najib Balala (Tourism) and James Macharia (Transport).
Inspecting security
Interior Ministry spokesman Mwenda Njoka revealed that Matiang’i led his colleagues in inspecting the security situation at JKIA.
The busy international airport was affected by the countrywide power blackout that hit both Kenya and Uganda on Tuesday evening.
At the same time, direct flights from JKIA to the United States are expected to begin on Friday.
The idea of having a direct flight to the world’s most powerful nation has come after years of negotiations and requires high-level security at JKIA.
