Uhuru shamed in special letter published by Daily Nation

Kenyatta's recent call for Opposition to "move on" has angered some Kenyans

In a special Op-Ed published by the Daily Nation, an unemployed Kenyan, working as a boda boda rider, challenged President Kenyatta over the challenges that face him and his family.

Simeon Okang’a, who hails from Vihiga County, complained that he had remained jobless since his graduation, seven years ago.

“Mr President, how can you tell a family like mine to move on? To where? I believed in Nasa. I was ready to be tear-gassed for them until I discovered that following them is like going after a beautiful butterfly: When about to catch it, it flies to the next flower!” Okang’a wrote.

Okanga listed the names and qualifications of all his four siblings, who are equally unemployed despite holding a diploma certificate and above.

“Let me ask this: If the Okang'as were from your family, the deputy president's, Raila’s, Kalonzo's, Musalia's, Wetang’ula's, Orengo's, Matiang’i's, Muigai's, Kiunjuri's, Esipisu's, Mailu's, could all of us still be unemployed?” Okang’a letter read in part.

The seemingly frustrated Kenyan went further to challenge Kenyatta’s understanding of the rising poverty that causes sleepless nights for ordinary Kenyan.

"When you tell us to move on, I ask: To where? Do you really know what it means to go on an empty stomach— when your appetite is high but there is nothing?" Okang’a wondered.
