The apparent cracks in the Jubilee coalition have now taken a new twist after a long-time ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta confirmed that the Jubilee Leader had caused sharp divisions in the ruling coalition.
Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri, who has worked with President Kenyatta since 2002 stated that the head of state had caused huge problems in Jubilee by failing to refusing to consult and failing to offer leadership in his recent deal with NASA Leader Raila Odinga.
Taken for granted
Ngunjiri stated that President Kenyatta had particularly taken the Mt Kenya leaders for granted by entering into secret dealings with Odinga that are not well understood by the electorate.
“The President has subjected us to unnecessary pressure from the electorate because he has not given us any signal. He appears to have introduced three centers of power and we have no idea how it is working,” Ngunjiri noted.
“We saw what he did at Matiba’s funeral. He suggested that the former Prime Minister has become a new centre of power and he did not even acknowledge the Deputy President,” the Jubilee MP lamented.
He added that Mt Kenya leaders are the only group of community leaders who have never been given an appointment to discuss their internal issues with the Head of State.
The legislator, who has previously faced hate speech charges, expressed doubts on the viability of the recent deal between Kenyatta and Odinga.
