Chebukati's touching message to his wife

Before he read out the presidential results from Form 34C on Monday, Chebukati gave a 24-minute speech where he talked about the hardships they endured as a commission and how he as a commissioner was turned into a punching bag by Kenyans.

“I have watched as people seeking for a punching bag found a very good one in me. I find it interesting that while some say how weak a chairman I am, those in IEBC say, ‘This chairman is too principled and cannot be influenced.’ So I have all these scenarios. I have been called names but this just goes to show that when you have an assignment and you have focused on putting Kenya first, you still will not please everyone.” He said.

He also acknowledged his family and thanked his wife and kids for standing by him and their unwavering support as he was plummeted on TV and dragged on social media.

“I want to thank God all mighty, all the commissioners and I want to thank my family, my wife and kids, they really bore the brunt of all the harassment I go through. When I watch television and people say all manner of things about me they are the ones who feel it most and the Kenyan people who have really prayed for IEBC and the country and they say in so many words.I thank you so much for praying for the stability of this country.”
