The visit comes amidst speculations of Moi’s role in the 2022 succession politics with politicians trooping in to hold talks with the former president.
Among those who have visited Moi in the recent past are President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, Hassan Joho and Kalonzo Musyoka with DP Ruto failing to meet him despite a long wait at his Kabarak home.
Mr Moi’s Press secretary Lee Njiru divulged that Mr Mbugua visited to review operations in the office of the retired president.
A statement from Njiru read in part that “Mr Mbugua and Mzee Moi’s talks focused on areas that needed improvement”.
The State House Comptroller also delivered a message of goodwill from President Kenyatta.
Mr Mbugua reiterated that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration will continue to prioritise Mr Moi's comfort.
The retired President is turning out to be a key player in the 2022 succession politics that has attracted the interest of leading politicians.
Among those who are eyeing the seat are his son Senator Gideon Moi, Kalonzo Musyoka, DP Ruto with Odinga’s allies also maintaining that the NASA chief could contest in 2022.
