Shakespeare’s famous on greatness probably explains their situation, “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."
Pulselive.co.ke has gathered a list of children of prominent politicians who, although ‘born great’ have taken time to scale the walls of academic excellence.
NASA leader Raila Odinga’s last born daughter attained her third degree at the age of 26 years.
Winnie holds an MBA from the United States International University and a double-major degree in International studies and Corporate Communications from Drexel University in the United States.
Winnie is currently involved in her father's campaigns and quest to push for electoral reforms in the country.
She is also the director of Green Outreach Foundation Africa (GOFA) - an organisation active in calling for utilization of renewable energy sources by linking international investors with Renewable energy projects in Kenya.
She hit the international headlines after becoming the first black African actress to bag an Oscar award.
She won the Academy Award for best supporting actress for her harrowing portrayal of a slave in “12 Years a Slave.”
However, Lupita’s win was as a result of a long career that had seen her attain a master’s degree in Acting from the respected Yale University.
“I applied like anyone else. I knew I had a chance amidst thousands who applied, and true I got an admission into the university,” Lupita said when she was asked how she got admission at Yale University.
Siaya Senator James Orengo's son is one of the few architectural professionals in Kenya.
Michael holds a masters and bachelors’s degree in Architecture from the prestigious Manchester University. Michael currently works at Triad Architects, Kenya.
Michael's father, James Orengo is popular in the Opposition especially after leading the NASA legal team in the supreme court that saw CJ David Maraga annul the August 8th presidential resulsts.
Orengo is one of the best lawyers in the country and has represented former President Mwai Kibaki and sitting Head of State Uhuru Kenyatta.
Orengo has been vocal in leading for electoral reforms in the country with a section of the public speculating that he might take the nod from Opposition leader Raila Odinga once he retires.
Born to a professor of medicine, who is also the Kisii Senator, Sam Ongeri, Fiona is also an academic genius in her own right.
She holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Texas where she went after graduating from Brighton University and attained a BSC in Pharmaceutical and Chemical Science.
