NASA Governor faces 6-month jail term
The Governor has also been directed to keep off the county public service board's activities.
While filing a case at the Kisumu Labour Court, the county's board through its lawyer Calitus Shifoka said the governor had disregarded the order issued on December 11, 2017.
Ignoring court orders
Wangamati is accused of ignoring the court order and making public utterances on a matter before court.
The Bungoma County boss has also been accused of placing additional locks on the doors of their offices at the Bungoma headquarters.
“The Governor disregarded the orders of this court. We pray he is found guilty of contempt and jailed for six months,” the application reads in part.
The board has been appointed by Wangamati's predecessor and now Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka.
However, their tenure in office is yet to expire.
Wangamati has in the past accused the County Public Service Board of corruption and nepotism through acceptance of bribes by persons seeking Chief Officers positions.
The matter is said to be determined on February 5.
Meanwhile, the governor is to keep off the board's activities until the case is heard and determined.
