Deputy President William Ruto political rivalry with AU envoy Raila Odinga played out at the 6th Annual devolution conference after the latter asked the former to give investigating agencies space to do their work.

Raila questioned how DR Ruto got the information on the loss of billions in the phantom dam project.

"If we are talking about the theft of the dams and figures are there don't come and tell us it was not Ksh20 billion that it was only Ksh7 billion," Mr Odinga stated.

Anecdotes

"Let the investigating authority to complete the investigations. Who are you to tell us? How did you know?" the AU envoy asked.

Mr Odinga cracked the governor's ribs after he likened this behavior to that of a thief who steals but points a finger at the other one who is trying to escape.

"You are thief who is trying to show us that oh! the other thief is trying to get away," the Opposition leader stated.

Uhuru's challenge

Additionally, the former Prime Minister also challenged politicians to bring him evidence if the President has any scandals that have not been made public.

He was echoing President Uhuru Kenyatta's remarks made at the same conference on Tuesday where he asked politicians to stop hiding behind funeral ceremonies but instead present any evidence against him to the DCI.

Raila's sentiments come in the backdrop of the Ksh21 billion dams scandal that is still under probe.
