Raila saved Echesa from Uhuru's anger

Uhuru lectures fired CS Rashid Echesa in front of Raila Odinga

Details have emerged on how AU envoy Raila Odinga saved sacked CS Rashid Echesa from President Uhuru's wrath in Bondo last year.

Reports by the Nation revealed that Uhuru was not pleased with Echesa after he visited the mausoleum of the late opposition leader Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

According to leaders who were at the memorial service, President Kenyatta was unhappy with Echesa since the maintenance of the tomb falls under his docket.

However, Raila is said to have intervened and saved Echesa from President Kenyatta's wrath.

Troubles

During his short tenure at the Sports and heritage Ministry, Echesa ruffled feather with Mr Odinga and at some point dared him to get him fired.

Notably, Mr Odinga does not have such powers and the handshake deal between him and President Kenyatta did not cover power sharing.

Recently President Kenyatta warned his Cabinet members to concentrate on working and stop politicking, the minister was believed to be one of the targets.

Mr Echesa has been embroiled in a number of violent exchanges in western Kenya in the past, with the most notable being a face-off with Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala in Mayoni where scores were injured and vehicles damaged.

Supremacy battles

In his supremacy fights with Senator Malala, he was also linked to manufactured nude photos allegedly of the lawmaker which were circulated online.

The sacked CS also faced another embarrassing moment when he was linked to eight Pakistani club dancers who were arrested for being in the country illegally.

Defence lawyer Evans Ondieki told the court that the girls who were arrested at Balle Balle Club in Parklands were in the country legally with full permission of Mr Echesa.
