Raphael Tuju makes first public appearance since road accident, addresses press at Karen Hospital

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju on Thursday made his first public appearance during a surprise press conference at the Karen Hospital where he returned to thank the facility's staff for treating him after the accident.

Tuju said he was grateful to God and to the management of the Karen Hospital where he was treated for close to a week after the accident on February 12th.

"This is the third day that I have been able to walk without support. The muscles are becoming stronger. My faith and mind are strong and I look forward to joining the rest of Kenyans in building this country."

"I have a lot to thank God for and it is something I always pray for it and this experience has made me even more grateful. As many of you know, I survived a plane crash, I have survived this vehicle crash. I don't think I want to go on a boda boda crash," Tuju said.

He was received by Dr Dan and Betty Gikonyo - the proprietors of Karen Hospital who are also his family friends.

Dr Dan Gikonyo, who accompanied Tuju to London for further treatment, thanked Tuju for returning to the facility to thank them and for his support of the Karen Heart to Heart Run.

The Cabinet Secretary also promised to address a second press conference at the Jubilee Headquarters on Friday or on Monday.
