The traditional rituals included the slaughtering of a single-coloured he-goat.
The goat was there after pierced by the elders using thorns before roasting it, a symbolic sign of the wrath that will befall S.K Macharia.
According to Kikuyu traditions the ritual performed is one of the worst consequences that can happen to a person and the results are disastrous which happens within this is the worst case scenario for any person and can result in calamities within three months from when the curse is placed.
Two-week ultimatum
The elders gave Macharia an ultimatum of apologising within two weeks or else calamities would befall him.
They claimed it was a bad omen for any member of the Kikuyu community to expose his people to enemies, with the intention of causing bloodshed.
According to The Star, Ndichu Njuguna, the National Deputy Chairman of Kikuyu Council of Elders, said the exercise will serve as a lesson to the community and deter anyone with similar thoughts.
“We have sacrificed a black goat to appease the spirits and save the community from possible bloodshed. Macharia’s case was that of pride and we cannot wait for bloodshed just to appease an individual. His case is closed,” he said.
2007 elections
S.K Macharia caused a stir early last month when he sensationally claimed before the Senate that opposition leader Raila Odinga won the 2007 general elections that resulted in one of the darkest periods in the country’s history after thousands were killed in the post-election violence over disputed results.
Mr Macharia claimed he had evidence to back his claims that Raila won but did not substantiate his allegations during his submission on the contentious Election (Amendment) Bill.
The RMS chairman supported Raila Odinga during the 2013 elections and their relationship is described to as “very close”.
In a live television address on March 9th 2013 shortly after Uhuru Kenyatta was declared president, Raila Odinga was flanked by S.K Macharia in a broadcast streamed live by all media stations courtesy of a Citizen TV exclusive link.
Raila described S.K Macharia as a member of his “Summit”, presumably Raila Odinga’s top most team of advisors.
