Silverstone Air fires all their pilots and crew

Silverstone Air issued a letter to its staff notifying them they had been sacked.

In the statement seen by Pulselive.co.ke, Silverstone told their staff that the company had become redundant hence why they were being let go.

According to the company, the decision by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) to suspend Silverstone Air's Dash 8 fleet had cost them losses due to flight disruptions.

"Silverstone Air Services Limited has become redundant... as a result of the recent decision by KCAA to ground the company's fleet, thereby grounding our passenger services," part of the statement read.

"This has resulted in irreparable damage to the company's brand equity as evidenced by mass cancellation of tickets," it continued.

Silverstone Air assured informed their staff that the notice was effective from November 18.

This comes barely a week after KCAA announced that it had suspended Silverstone Air's Dash 8 fleet from flying for 7 days to allow inspection.

Mishap on Silverstone plane

KCAA Director General Gilbert Kibe said that Silverstone cannot fly until they establish what led to the fall of a wheel in one of their planes.

Silverstone Air has been in the limelight following recent mishaps involving their planes.

On October 28, there was panic after one of the rear wheels of an aircraft belonging to Silverstone Air detached broke loose as the plane took off from Lodwar Airstrip in Turkana County.
