Top TV queen reveals the pain of divorcing her celebrity husband

Top Kameme TV presenter Keziah Kariuki has opened up her divorce with celebrated radio presenter and comedian Kiengei wa Watoria.

In a rare interview on her personal life, Keziah confessed that the divorce was one of the most painful experiences she underwent.

She said that most of her colleagues were not aware of her domestic troubles which caused her to break down on several occasions – sometimes when presenting a show or readying up to face the camera.

“It was a painful experience, sometimes I was getting ready for a TV show and I would break down. In other instances, I would be getting ready to appear before the camera only to burst out in tears and mess my make up,” she recalled.

Keziah also appeared to apportion blame to her ex-husband, who incidentally, works at Kameme FM – a sister station of Kameme TV under the Media Max Media Group.

She said her Kiengei had married a second wife while they were still married in a Christian union.

“Divorce is painful but sometimes, you have to move on. Like in my case, my husband brought in another wife and I had no option but to move on and go through with the divorce.”

“I think the problem was that we both had celebrity status and each one will want to go out with certain people who may not be agreeable with the other party,” she said.

In their hey-days, the couple was known as Cucu and guka wa Nairobi (Nairobi’s grandpa and grandma) in reference to Kiengei’s stage name.

Her ex-husband has since remarried and is married to one Mugure Kiengei.
