Treasury Cabinet secretary Henry Rotich has peacefully surrendered to Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives following the order issued to police to arrest him.
CS Rotich reported to DCI headquarters just moments after DPP Noordin Haji issued the warrant for his immediate arrest.
The CS along with his Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge and 25 others were named as suspects in the Sh19 billion Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
PS Thugge followed suit and also presented himself to the police at the DCI headquarters.
Detectives also raided KVDA offices in Eldoret to arrest MD David Kimosop, supply chain boss and tender committee members in connection with the multi-billion scandal.
DPP Haji says evidence to be presented in court
While making his announcement on Monday morning, DPP Noordin Haji refused to reveal details of the evidence he has collected against the named suspects saying that it will be presented in court.
"Upon investigations by the DCI, it was established that the conception, procurement and payment process for the Arror and Kimwarer Dam projects in Elgeyo Marakwet County were riddled with massive illegalities.
"The investigations established that government officials flouted all procurement rules and abused their oath of office to ensure the scheme went through," the DPP outlined.
He further stated that the CS and PSs will have to step down from their positions after they take a plea on the charges against them.
