One of Kenya’s largest and most successful supermarket chains, Tuskys supermarket, has shut down one of its busiest branches in the city known as “Tuskys Beba Beba" along Tom Mboya street.

According to the retail chain, the 11 year old branch was closed down following the sale of its property by the owners, Bank of Baroda, whereas the new owner wants to carry out a refurbishment exercise on the property.

“The Bank of Baroda has been our landlord for 11 years. The Bank has now informed us that they have sold the property. The new owner has notified us of their intent to re-develop the property. Consequently, we have to close business in that location effective 02 May 2017,” read part of a statement from the Tuskys management.

However, Tuskys said that they have put measures to accommodate its customers to nearby branches and all the 104 employees affected by the closure will be absorbed in other branches such as the nearby Tuskys Imara, Tuskys Chap Chap City market, Tuskys Kenyatta Avenue, Tuskys Magic on Ronald Ngala among others.
