The father of Naftaly Kinuthia, the alleged killer of Moi University student Ivy Wangeci, has apologized to the family of his son’s victim.

George Kinuthia spoke to the press outside the Eldoret law courts where his son is expected to take plea for the murder of Ivy.

He said he and other members of his family were shocked on learning of what his son had allegedly done to Ivy.

George also sent apologies to Ivy’s family, adding that Kinuthia’s family was in talks with elders to represent them at the deceased’s funeral.

"We are really sorry for what happened. This is really a difficult situation especially for the family of Ivy," he said, adding that he was yet to come terms with what would have driven his son to behave in such a manner.

The elder Kinuthia confirmed his family had known Ivy's parents as they both resided in Thika.

The former Moi University student of medicine will be buried on Thursday at her family’s rural home in Mahiga ward, Othaya.
