Elizabeth Silamoi, 25, and Joyce Tikoyian, 23, appeared with their husband Tom Mako for an interview with Radio Jambo to explain their unique marriage arrangement.
Media reports had quoted Tom saying he was ready to marry a third wife if the two started bothering him.
Conditions to third wife
However, Joyce and Elizabeth said they had strict conditions on the possibility of a third wife saying they would only allow it if he was able to sustain their current lifestyle.
They further explained that they would not allow a third wife who would monopolize their husband’s attention.
“It will depend on whether he is capable and that’s up to him if he feels he wants a third wife. However, she had to come and live the way we do."
“We have conditions. We will not allow our traditions and our way of doing things. Whether it’s a Maasai, a Kikuyu, or a Kamba we have no problem but she has to fit in our arrangement and not take away our husband’s attention,” Elizabeth said.
Their husband Tom, protested to the line of questioning by host Massawe Jappani, saying it was likely to ruin his marriage.
He also denied media reports that he had a plan to marry a third wife saying he was content with Elizabeth and Joyce who have each borne him two children.
